It’s not beautiful, I think as I drive up the mountain roads outside Nong Khiaw — a town tucked away in the limestone mountains in Northern Laos — it’s evisceratingly so. The mountain roads wind steeply up, the road falls sharply to my right. I haven’t seen another car in an hour. Few people come up this way.
